So let’s take a moment and talk about sleep. Sleep is one of the most important function to the human body and it even more so to the caregiver. When a caregiver goes without sleep, it starts to show in the standards of their care. It is natural to want to go without sleep to ensure that everything is copacetic with your loved one and that everything is perfect.
I want to tell you this however. If it doesnt need done right this moment to ensure that your loved one is in okay standards such as cleaning their bodies, feeding them or ensuring that they are not sitting in a bowel movement or urine, it can wait.
An example of this is cleaning their room or organizing. If you have been going full tilt since 5 AM and it is midnight, take a rest and go to sleep.
If it takes an hour at night to organize or clean their room, it will take the exact same amount of time in the morning. The main difference is that in the morning, you will be full rested and will notice things that your sleep deprived mind would not have noticed.
Sleep is one of the most important things and as a caregiver, you will never get enough of it so grab it up while you can.
Get some rest all, and give a care!
